iPhone XS: Best budget OLED iPhone

If you’re looking for an iPhone on a budget that has a gorgeous OLED panel, great specs and a premium design then you can’t go wrong with iPhone XS. Why the iPhone XS? Given the price, it’s the best you can get if you want an OLED.

If you’re looking for an iPhone XS for the best price in Bangladesh then Sardar Tech has got you covered! The 64Gb and 256Gb variants are currently available. You can get the Gold, Silver and Space Gray color options.

iPhone XS Specs and Review:

Design:

  • Better build quality than iPhone X
  • Hits the sweet spot of screen and chassis size

Because it is an “S” model, the display and design are identical to the one it directly replaces, the iPhone X. The edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED display remains spectacular, with the top “notch” filled with sensors the only thing interfering with the design. The display is compact compared to the latest flagships which are almost tablet-sized. So the form factor is great for those who are looking for a flagship experience in a compact form factor.  The iPhone XS features tougher glass than that of the iPhone X. While its IP68 waterproofing means you can drop the phone in water up to 2m for 30 minutes without damage, we still wouldn’t recommend it. There are also enhancements to the speakers, so you’ll hear much better sound; it’s a subtle but obvious difference when compared to the iPhone X. The iPhone XS sounds more rounded, with somewhat better bass, giving the impression of a larger sound stage. It’s not a great improvement over the iPhone X, but it’s an improvement.

Display:

  • 5.8in Super Retina OLED
  • Resolution of 2436 x 1125
  • HDR10 and Dolby Vision

The main reason to get iPhone XS over iPhone X or XR is the screen. It’s a 5.8in Super Retina OLED screen at a resolution of 2436 x 1125 and a pixel density of 458ppi. Since it’s an OLED, you’ll be getting much more vibrant and colorful visuals than the iPhone X, XR and even the iPhone 11 which features a Liquid Retina IPS LCD. iPhone XS’s display also supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision which means you’ll be getting immersive visuals when you’re watching HDR encoded videos. The improvement is most noticeable while watching videos from sources such as Netflix, but it also means that photos and other visuals look better. Colour reproduction will be aided by the inclusion of True Tone (again, as on the X), which adjusts screen output to account for environmental lighting conditions. The 3D Touch support will please some Apple users as well which is missing in the latest entries.

Camera:

  • Two 12-megapixel cameras on the rear
  • One 7-megapixel camera on the front
  • New camera features include Smart HDR and adaptable depth of field

The camera setup has a better 12MP sensor for the primary camera with bigger pixels, while the 12MP telephoto snapper is the same as the iPhone X. The quad-LED dual-tone flash is in-between. The better sensor expands to 1.4µm over the 1.22µm of the previous cameras. That makes it both better at absorbing available light and boosting low light photography. The telephoto lens on the XS has a 2x optical zoom and works in a telephoto Portrait Mode, just like the iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus cameras. That extra zoom can be helpful and delivers great close-up shots. Even though the camera specs for iPhone X and iPhone XS seem similar, the better image processing sensor creates notable differences between their outputs. The improved camera and new image processor on the A12 Bionic chip work together to enable what Apple refers to as “Smart HDR.” In practice, this implies that the shots seem better in low light and high contrast conditions, resulting in better photos whether taken on a nighttime street, in a dim room, or in broad sunlight. The larger sensor allows more light in, according to Apple, and I can tell. Focus is faster, too. The video recording is better as well. The camera is capable of recording 2160p@60/30fps, and 1080p@30/60/120/240fps with a wider dynamic range.  The added HDR (better auto contrast, as with the still photos) and extra stabilization make even the casual 1080p@30fps videos look sharp.

Performance:

  • A12 Bionic Chipset
  • Loads of power
  • Neural Engine brings enhancements throughout
  • Notably more powerful AR capabilities
  •  4GB of RAM

The A12 Bionic chip in the iPhone XS has its own neural engine. It’s also a 7nm chip, which means it’s more efficient. Apple quotes a 15 percent performance improvement over the A11 chipset found in the iPhone X. That may not seem like a big improvement but it’s still snappy when gaming or multitasking. Augmented-reality experiences see the biggest leap on this phone in terms of speed, quality and performance thanks to its new Neural Engine. You can feel that with the smoother video and higher-resolution backgrounds on the iPhone XS. Apple claims the Neural Engine on the A11 could perform 600 billion operations per second, while the A12 can do 5 trillion. The A12’s GPU is 50 percent faster which makes gaming and other visual experiences much smoother as well. The  4GB of RAM might seem like a bummer for most average users but in reality, Apple’s optimization makes the best use out of that 4GB which makes the 4GB of RAM feel like a lot more while performing heavy tasks or running heavy games.

Battery Life:

  • Longer lasting battery than iPhone X
  • Faster wireless charging
  • Quick Charging option via additional charger

iPhone XS’s A12 is 40% more power-efficient than the A11 which gives iPhone XS a greater battery life than its predecessor. The estimates are 12 hours of internet use and 14 hours of wireless video playback.  It supports 15W fast charging and it is advertised that you can get your phone from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Apple says the phone’s wireless charging coil has improved so there’ll be fewer misses when you place it on a charging pad. This could also mean faster charging in some conditions, but 7.5 watts is still the limit. It supports Qi wireless charging so compatibility won’t be much of an issue.

Verdict:

The iPhone XS is super-fast, looks wonderful, and is a pleasure to use. It offers a faster experience, a tougher shell, and an improved camera over its predecessors. However, if you’re looking for better camera performance we suggest that you opt for the iPhone 11 instead. But if the camera is not the main priority then you can certainly go for the iPhone XS, especially over the iPhone X or XR.
